Sun City West club asks to de-charter

Seeking MOU with rec centers

Since 1979 a local Sun City West chartered club has positively impacted the community.

But now, the Friends of the R.H. Johnson Library would like to drop chartered club status. Larry Woods, Friends of the R.H. Johnson Library spokesman, said by the rules, regulations and procedures listed about chartered clubs, this club was not recreational, social or leisure, nor did the club or the members host monthly meetings. Rather the Friends of the R.H. Johnson Library is a service organization, according to Woods.

While the cost has always remained at $2 per year, members have only ever raised money for the library in excess of $100,000.
