Sun City to see more pickleball courts

Board orders plans for conversion at Lakeview Center

The “clack clack” of picklballs meeting paddles could soon be heard from the Lakeview Center campus, 10626 W. Thunderbird Blvd.

The Recreation Centers of Sun City Board of Directors, in its last business meeting before the summer recess, approved $50,000 to be spent from the 2022 budget for detailed architectural drawings to convert the tennis courts at Lakeview into 16 pickleball courts. The board also approved waiving the second reading of the motion to allow for the work to begin as soon as possible.

The move comes after more than a year of discussion about the anticipated loss of pickleball courts at Mountain View Center, 9749 N. 107th Ave., when rebuild work begins at that facility.
