Sun City thefts turning around

Slight drop last year

One crime that could be trending down in Sun City is thefts of items other than vehicles.

There were 327 thefts in the community in 2019 and that dropped to 316 in 202. The COVID-19 pandemic could have played into that drop in thefts, according to Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Scott Keller. In the following year, thefts jumped up to 405.

But in 2022, thefts in Sun City began to head downward, with 398 recorded by MCSO.
