Sun City seniors in scam crosshairs

Elderly targeted in large numbers

Sun Cities residents are in the crosshairs of fraud perpetrators in larger numbers than most communities.

Mike Redman, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office community outreach officer, said fraud schemes are the crime category reported most in the age restricted communities of Sun City and Sun City West. He added those reports for the Sun Cities are the highest of any area in the county.

“I wasn’t sure that was true until I saw the statistics,” he said.
