A Sun City resident received recognition for his military service by a nationwide organization.
Jack Sharpe was honored by the Quilts of Valor Foundation with a full-size quilt. A Quilt of Valor is a quality, handmade quilt that is machine or hand quilted. It is awarded to a service member or veteran who has been touched by war. The quilt says unequivocally, “Thank you for your service and sacrifice in serving our nation.”
Sharpe served in the U.S. Army 1952-54 and was in Korea during the Korean conflict that stretched from 1950 to 1953. He was a special court martial stenographer during his service. His job was to take notes in shorthand during proceedings then transcribe them.
