Sun City performing arts center location debated

Committee opinions still divided

With a couple of weeks to go before discussing recommendations, members of the Recreation Centers of Sun City Strategic Alternatives Committee continued to be divided on the Mountain View Center rebuild.

The committee was tasked by the RCSC board to research alternatives for the Mountain View project, 9749 N. 107th Ave. During the past several weeks, the group heard presentations by a variety of people showcasing their ideas for the rebuild, including those who favor locating a performing arts center on the Lakeview Center campus, 10626 W. Thunderbird Blvd., rather than Mountain View.

Some residents at the July 7 SAC meeting believed the committee was working past its scope by considering options for Lakeview, while others believed the two centers are linked.
