Sun City golfers frustrated over tee times

Outsiders, groups taking best slots

Frustration from Sun City golfers is growing over how tee times on the Recreation Centers of Sun City courses are allocated.

Several voiced their concerns during the Jan. 9 member/board exchange meeting. They called on RCSC officials to make changes that give resident golfers a better chance to get morning tee times.

A lottery system is used to assign tee times at the RCSC courses for individual golfers. But Sun City players claim that by the time the lottery is done, groups from outside the community have already taken up all the best slots. Small groups must request tee times at least 30 days in advance, according to Brian Duthu, RCSC golf and grounds director. The groups also pay $2 per person in addition to the regular fees.
