Sun City Fire District budget could rise

Inflation, personnel retention are factors

Inflation and an effort to retain personnel were factors in a proposed Sun City Fire District budget that will increase 8%.

The proposed budget for the 2023-24 fiscal year is $19.5 million opposed to $17.5 for the for 2022-23. The district board shared the proposed budget during a special workshop May 9. The board will consider the document for tentative adoption during its next regular board meeting, 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 23 at the district administrative building, 18602 N. 99th Ave.

“This is earlier than usual for a budget presentation, but we wanted the board to consider it for tentative adoption in the May meeting and, if passed there, consider it for final adoption in June,” said Gabe Buldra, the district’s contracted finance director.
