Sun City drug deal involving undercover agent ends in 12-year prison sentence

A 54-year-old man, who attempted to sell fentanyl to an undercover agent in Sun City, has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison, authorities said.

Faustino Soto-Martinez, a Mexican citizen, possessed and intended to sell 40,000 fentanyl pills to the agent during the incident that took place on March 11, 2024, according to a release from the Arizona district of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, which cited court documents and information discussed at sentencing last month.

At sentencing, Soto-Martinez’s criminal history was taken into consideration, including multiple state drug-trafficking convictions. In 2005, he was convicted in three separate state drug-trafficking cases and sentenced to five years in prison for each, which he served concurrently, the release stated.
