Sun City Daughter takes first all-female Honor Flight

Sandra Collier, United States Coast Guard veteran and members of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Agua Fria chapter, recently went on the first all-female Vietnam War-era veterans Honor Flight to Washington DC.

The event, sponsored by the Arizona State Society Daughters of the American Revolution nonprofit service organization, was for 32 female veterans who served in five military branches: Air Force, Navy, Army, Marines and Coast Guard.

During the three-day trip, the NSDAR sisters were welcomed by the District of Columbia Daughters of the American Revolution to the Military Women’s Memorial, which is the only major memorial dedicated to documenting and honoring the service of women in the U.S. Armed Forces. They also visited the war memorials, Arlington National Cemetery, NSDAR headquarters in Washington DC and Fort McHenry in Maryland.
