Sun City church approaching its 50th anniversary

All Saints of the Desert Episcopal Church celebration takes place next month

A Sun City church is prepping for its 50th anniversary celebration.

Services as a mission at All Saints of the Desert Episcopal Church, located at 9502 W. Hutton Drive, began on Nov. 4, 1973, at the Sundial Recreation Center. They continued there until May 23, 1976, until the new church building went up at the corner of Burns and Hutton drives.

“We became a self-supporting parish on April 29, 1977. The parish hall was completed in 1978, and a chapel added in 1979. An enlarged chapel and columbarium were completed in 1991,” the church explained in a press release. “The entire property is debt-free because of the generosity and dedicated labor of many members and friends.”

The Reverend Canon Hary Way is currently the church’s interim rector.

All Saints Of The Desert Episcopal Church is an All Inclusive Church, meaning that everyone is welcome and invited to receive communion at church services on Sunday at 10 a.m. and Saturday at 4 p.m.

Activities and studies at the church include an events committee, book club, guest speakers, the choir, Christmas decorating group, coffee and food after the worship service group, clean-up groups, and many more.
