Sun Bowl to host Navy Band chorus
Posted
The Recreation Centers of Sun City, Inc. is pleased to announce a free community event coming to the Sun Bowl Auditorium, 10220 N. 107th Ave., at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 12 when the Sea Chanters Chorus from Washington D.C. performs.
The Sea Chanters, the chorus of the United States Navy Band, have appeared throughout the United States and perform frequently at the White House, the Vice President’s house, and for dignitaries at Washington embassies.
As the official chorus of the United States Navy, and one of five performing units of the United States Navy Band, the Sea Chanters promote the Navy’s proud heritage of the sea. The repertoire of this 20-voice chorus, accompanied by piano, bass and drums, encompasses all types of choral music, including sea chanteys, patriotic selections, folk songs, sacred hymns, and the diverse sounds of opera and Broadway.
The Sun Bowl Amphitheater is an open air venue which requires concert goers to bring their own lawn chair and/or blanket for this performance. Seating on the dance floor is reserved for those who are physically challenged.
There will be no gourmet food vendors for this event, but snacks and beverages in non-glass containers are allowed. Should windy or stormy weather be a factor, this evening concert will be relocated to the Sundial Auditorium, 14801 N. 103rd Ave.
Call 623-972-6014 for a message regarding venue change.
