Suzanne Rose Rappaport Robinson, 84, died at home in Peoria on Sept. 16, 2018.Born April 6, 1934, in Toledo Hospital, she grew up in nearby Bowling Green, Ohio, daughter of Henry and Pearl Rappaport. It was a time and place in which, as a child, she could pick up the phone; tell the operator, "I want to talk to my Daddy"; and be connected to his store. Decades later, she would FaceTime with her children, nieces and nephews via her iPad.Sue graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1952 and Northwestern University in 1956, later earning a master's degree in education from the University of Toledo. It was at Northwestern that she met her husband, dental student Eric R. Robinson. During the course of her career, she was a kindergarten teacher, mom and tutor for children with learning disabilities. Sue spent most of her adult life in the Toledo area and tutored at Ottawa Hills High School before moving with her husband to Cincinnati and, a decade later, Surprise. An art lover, she was a docent at the Cincinnati Art Museum, Cincinnati's Taft Museum and the West Valley Art Museum in Surprise. She was a breast cancer survivor who co-founded a support group in Toledo for women who underwent mastectomies. She also was active in the Northwestern Alumni Association's Sun Cities chapter.She is survived by her daughter, Helaine K. "Holly" Robinson of Cincinnati, and son, Stuart J. Robinson of Glendale. Survivors also include her sister-in-law, Mariellen Miller of Phoenix; nieces Carol Brandt Vorhaus, Jennifer Traulsen, Halle Miller and Elisa Aellig; and nephews Steve, Tom and Chuck Brandt. Her husband died in 2003.Her children would like to thank caregivers Ben, Tami, Christine, Traci, Teresa, Alexis and JoJo, who assisted her late in life.Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley (hov.org) or the West Valley Art Museum (wvam.org).
