Substitute teachers cost Chandler Schools $15.5M this year

​Questions were answered about two items eventually approved by the Chandler Unified School District Governing Board before it unanimously approved two items at its June 12 meeting.

The board, by approving the consent agenda, authorized a $60,000 increase to its special-needs transportation contract and a $2.5 million increase to its contract for substitute teachers.

Board member Kurt Rohrs asked for the rationale and cost drivers behind both contract increases.
