Subdivision proposed for Scottsdale horse country upsets neighbors

Joanne “Copper” Phillips has lived in Scottsdale’s northern horse country for 33 years and she’s worried much of the vegetation and wildlife on a 55-acre property will simply get “bladed over” if a proposed subdivision at the corner of Hayden and Dynamite Roads is allowed to go up.

Joanne “Copper” Phillips and her husband built their home way up north in Scottsdale’s horse country back in 1992.

She designed it, raised a family in it and eased her husband’s passing from cancer in it.

The couple also had as many as eight horses on the 2.5-acre property at one time, though she’s had to sell the last two after her husband died just over three months ago.
