Subcommittee: Downtown Phoenix should keep e-scooters for at least another year

Electronic scooters should be allowed on the streets of downtown Phoenix for at least another year, says Phoenix's transportation committee.

The city’s Transportation, Infrastructure and Innovation Subcommittee voted to extend Phoenix’s e-scooter pilot program for another year last week. The extension will not be official until the full City Council votes on it next week, on Wednesday, March 17.

The extension is likely to pass council because the four-person subcommittee, who are each council members, voted unanimously on the extension last week. This means only one of the remaining five council members is needed for a majority.
