The Litchfield Elementary School District governing board heard from concerned teachers, students and parents on Tuesday about the potential converting of a kindergarten through eighth-grade school and separating the student body into an elementary and middle school format.
According to staff, boundary changes and student cross-leveling may be required to compensate for exponential growth in the region. As a consequence, some sixth- through eighth-grade students may face an introduction to a middle school format.
The public speakers' consensus was that converting Verrado Heritage Elementary School to a K-5 school would be a net loss for students.
