Students in Queen Creek have a say in school budgets

Several students across Queen Creek Unified School District are learning about a process called participatory budgeting.

This process empowers students to decide together how to spend school district funds to improve their schools. It also prepares students to be active, informed and engaged participants in civic life.

During the past few months, student groups have worked together to develop plans they presented to the QCUSD Governing Board and Superintendent Perry Berry. Once their plans were approved by the district, the students marketed and campaigned for their approved projects on campus.
