Student-first learning model thrives at Valley alternative schools

Students and parents from around the Valley are increasingly looking at alternative schooling options — such as microschools or online K-12 programs — to find an education that best fits their needs.

COVID-19 introduced an online learning model that students grappled with, whether that be from a lack of interest in the curriculum or because of a lack of access to the internet among other reasons.

This left students, parents and teachers frustrated with the state of schooling. Many began to seek options for a number of reasons during and after the pandemic. In the wake of online schooling during the pandemic, some parents even rallied together to create more personalized educational avenues.
