Student brings gun onto Peoria Unified school campus

Officials: Firearm was immediately confiscated after tip from students

An Alta Loma fourth-grader brought a gun onto campus the morning of May 10, but school officials said administration immediately confiscated it and contacted the police department.

The gun was not loaded.

In a letter to parents, Principal Mark Harman said the firearm was found in the student’s backpack after students told trusted adults about the situation. He said the school was able to address the situation, prioritizing safety for all students and staff on campus.
