Street connection scrapped as part of northeast Phoenix housing development

Plans for a single-family housing development called Tellaro in northeast Phoenix have changed after residents opposed the project connecting a residential street to 56th Street.

Nick Wood, attorney for the developer K. Hovnanian Homes, said no residents were opposed to the 53.2-acre, 234-unit single-family housing development, southwest of 56th Street and Ranger Drive.

However, the city Street Transportation Department required the developer to connect Ranger Drive to 56th Street. That would change the existing three-way intersection into a four-way intersection and potentially send major traffic through the existing neighborhoods to the west.
