A thunderstorm burst through Glendale Monday afternoon with wind gusts over 50 miles per hour in some spots, resulting in overturned trees, downed power lines and, as of 5 p.m., almost 1,800 APS customers without power.
Glendale Police reported calls with trees in roadways and a larger number of vehicle collisions than typical. The most damage seems to have occurred near and on the campus of Glendale Community College, 6000 W. Olive Avenue, where five power lines came down, and in some cases snapped in two, along Olive.
No injuries have been reported.
