Jack Sellers, the chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, is trailing far behind Mark Steward in the Republican race for the the District 1 seat.
As of Wednesday morning, Stewart had 43,207 votes, or 65.2%, compared with Sellers total of 23,020 votes, or 34.8% in a race to represent the southeast part of Maricopa County on the board.
Stewart is a term-limited Chandler council member who has been involved in local politics since 2016 when he first ran for that seat. He has served with several governmental groups such as the Maricopa Association of Government.
