A sales tax approved in 2017 by Pinal County voters — and that raised $80 million for transportation projects — has been struck down by the Arizona Supreme Court.
“We were dealt a blow by the [Arizona] Supreme Court this week — that’s on the half-cent sales tax that we’ve all been counting on to do the North-South [Corridor} interconnect,” Pinal County District 5 Supervisor Jeff Serdy said at a recent State of the County event.
The more than 50-mile North-South Corridor is to be between U.S. Highway 60 in Apache Junction and I-10 in Eloy, passing through the city of Coolidge and the town of Florence.
