State puts brakes on freeway construction for Fourth of July weekend

There are no projects planned along freeways over the holiday weekend, state transportation officials said.

Work will cease Wednesday afternoon and not begin again until Monday morning, July 8, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Instead of planning for detours, ADOT officials said drivers should plan for the unexpected, including disabled vehicles, crashes or wildfires that could affect travel.
