State opens investigation into Litchfield Park, Goodyear water company

The Arizona Corporation Commission opened an investigation into Liberty Utilities and its low water pressure output for residents in Litchfield Park and the Goodyear area.

The commission, responsible for regulating public utility companies, posted an inquiry letter to Liberty Utilities Thursday. The investigation comes after Liberty Utilities contacted customers in its service territory and told them to expect low water pressure because of "continued hot and dry weather."

According to the commission, water companies are legally required to maintain at least 20 pounds per square inch of pressure in drinking water distribution systems with a fire hydrant open. This is a requirement to ensure adequate fire suppression pressure in an emergency.
