State grant boosts Goodyear police DUI enforcement effort
Posted
The state of Arizona has provided $50,000 to the Goodyear Police Department to enhance the city's DUI enforcement effort.
The grant's goal is to reduce incidents of fatalities or injury as a result of alcohol and drug-related driving.
The money, from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, will be used for overtime, public education events and the Know Your Limit campaigns during the 2023 fiscal year, Goodyear officials said.
According to the city, Goodyear officers "will engage in enforcement, education and public awareness throughout the year."
In October, Goodyear received a similar $60,000 grant for DUI enforcement, some of which was used purchase new Intoxilyzer 9000 breatherlizer tests.
