Stallions’ state javelin champ not satisfied

Jake Railey seeks more records, better other throws in 2022

Jake Railey finished his junior year at Shadow Ridge as the state Division I champion, yet does not look back on the moment with fond memories of his performance or the event itself.

Railey won the state meet with a throw of 191 feet 10 inch, nearly 10 feet more that runner up Casey Shull of Queen Creek. Yet both Railey and Stallions throwing coach Dave Smith believed they left several feet behind the line.

After all Railey began the season in March with a throw of 191 feet 1 inch and set his personal record of 194 feet 11 inches April 17 in Mesa.
