SRP’s largest Arizona energy facility now online in Peoria

Able to serve up to 5,600 homes

SRP’s largest energy storage facility in Arizona is now online, located in Peoria, with the ability to supply 25 megawatts of power over a four-hour period, or enough energy to power about 5,600 typical residential homes.

The Bolster Substation Battery System, adjacent to SRP’s Agua Fria Generating Station near 75th and Northern avenues, consists of a series of Tesla Megapacks connected directly to the utility company’s energy grid. Those packs can be recharged overnight when power is abundant and less expensive and then discharged during peak energy periods to help meet high customer demand.

The batteries can be discharged when solar power is unavailable.
