SRP to host 'Snow Day' at Phoenix Zoo

Posted

The Phoenix Zoo will see some snow this summer thanks to Salt River Project.

The utility's Summer of Savings program will bring snow to several animal enclosures at the zoo, 455 N. Galvin Parkway in Phoenix. The event juns 7-11 a.m. Friday, June 27.

Zoo staff will create frozen treats for some animals to enjoy, and patrons arriving between 9 and 11 a.m. can get a free ice cream cone from Mr. Softee while supplies last.

SRP officials will be on hand to provide energy-saving tips as well as providing a contest to win energy-efficient prizes.

The tentative times to catch animals with their snow are:

  • 7 a.m. African lions

  • 7:30 a.m. – meerkat

  • 8 a.m. – African painted dogs & cheetah

  • 8:30 a.m. – orangutan

  • 9 a.m. – greater one-horned rhino

Tickets can be purchased online for a $10 savings for SRP customers by clicking here. Patrons also can show their SRP bill at the ticket windows for in-person purchases.
