Salt River Project and students from Western Valley Elementary School in Phoenix spent time on Friday wrapping up and delivering presents as part of the utility’s annual Adopt-an-Angel holiday toy drive.
The drive, which collected more than 1,000 toys last year, was to benefit 120 students in the Fowler Elementary School District in Phoenix.
“One of the most rewarding parts of working for an organization like SRP is the opportunity to give back to our community in meaningful ways. Contributing to programs like Adopt an Angel reflects our team member’s shared commitment to making a difference in the lives of others, especially during the holiday season” said Colleen Feeherym and ERP analyst at SRP.

SRP has been bringing presents to Fowler district students for 29 years. It’s a partnership district officials said has been fruitful beyond just presents.
“We are incredibly grateful for our collaboration with SRP. For 29 years, our students from the Fowler School District have picked up toys and loaded them onto the bus to bring back to school. This year was extra special as our students got to explore new technology, including virtual reality, and ask questions. They were fully engaged in the experience. We hope to continue this wonderful partnership for many more years,” Ana María Hernandez, the parent liaison for the district.
Students at the event, which featured stations with hot cocoa and treats, appreciated the adventure.
“I really liked this trip. I am glad to be here and to help deliver these presents to our school,” said Ian Isaias Perez Ariaz, a student at Western Valley.
