The second of two open houses concerning Salt River Project’s proposed price increase will take place Thursday, Jan. 9, in Mesa.
The session is scheduled for three hours, beginning at 6:30 p.m., in the Student Union at ASU Polytech, 5999 S. Backus Mall. Free parking is available in lot 10, according to a release.
SRP is seeking an overall 2.4 percent price increase, which officials from the Tempe-based utility said “reflects a proposed increase of $168.8 million in base revenue to support upgrades to the power system and an anticipated decrease of $67.7 million in fuel and purchased power revenues.”
If approved by SRP’s publicly elected board of directors, the average residential customer using 1,117 kilowatt-hours a month will see a monthly bill increase of 3.5 percent, or $5.64, effective with the November billing cycle.
