Salt River Project last week celebrated the completion of the Gilbert Road Pipeline project, which is designed to enhance water reliability and flexibility throughout the Valley, SRP officials said.
The new system will enable Tempe-based Salt River Project to move water from south of the Salt River to the Arizona Canal, “strengthening its ability to deliver water where it is needed most and helping ensure a resilient water supply,” according to an SRP release.
SRP President Chris Dobson said the pipeline was more than a decade in the making and completed after five years of construction.
