Rejecting the urge to assist a seemingly abandoned baby bird or rabbit can be tough, but it’s the right thing to do, Arizona wildlife experts say.
Spring is producing more newborns in the wild, including backyards throughout the Valley, and while it may appear their parents are long gone, that’s likely not the case, according to the Arizona Game and Fish Department.
"Adult birds will still care for their young if they fall out of the nest too soon. If you happen to see a flightless baby bird on the ground and are concerned for its safety, it is OK to put it back in the nest if you can safely do so,” Darren Julian, urban wildlife specialist for AZGFD, said.
