Willow Canyon sophomore Easton Spriggs is already building a reputation as an ace pitcher who has an even higher gear in the playoffs.
Saturday’s three-hit, complete game shutout of Sunrise Mountain will only add to her reputation. She only needed a little help from her lineup.
Junior Laila Marrero’s first home run – ever – did the trick. Spriggs added her 14th blast of the season, a two-run homer in the sixth, and No. 9 seed Willow Canyon (21-8) put away region rival Sunrise Mountain (18-9) 4-0 in the first round.
