Spotlight Youth Theatre will present the Tony-award winning musical “Fun Home” on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, Sept. 17-Oct. 3, at Spotlight Youth Theatre, 10620 N. 43rd Ave., Glendale.

Showtimes for the three-week production are 7 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays. There will be two matinee showings on Sept. 25 and Oct. 2. At 2 p.m. Tickets cost $16 per person and can be purchased in person at Spotlight Youth Theatre Box Office or online at https://sytaz.org.

Based on Alison Bechdel’s graphic novel, the story dives into her past recalling her volatile, brilliant and one-of-a-kind father whose temperament and secrets defined her family and her life. She relives her unique childhood of playing at the family’s Bechdel Funeral Home, her growing understanding of her own sexuality, and the looming, unanswerable questions about her father’s hidden desires.

“Fun Home” is an original musical about seeing parents through grown-up eyes. This musical garnered numerous awards and accolades, including the 2015 Tony for Best New Musical.
Books and lyrics are by Lisa Kron and music by Jeanine Tesori.
