Spending on ICE has gotten out of hand

OPINION — I am concerned about increasing funding for ICE (or the $1.5 trillion ask for Trump's “Dream Military”).

In the state of Minnesota, where ICE is currently bearing down, the ICE presence is larger than both the Minneapolis and St. Paul police forces combined. This is alarming.

In January, ICE force was doubled nationwide to 22,000 soldiers. It is larger than the military of most countries and unlike local community policing, its authority is concentrated at the federal level, which makes it dangerous for our country; Put in the wrong hands it easily can be used to intimidate or terrorize citizens. It's already happening.
