SPEND IT OR LOSE IT: Phoenix doles out remaining $43 million in coronavirus relief before Dec. 30 deadline

Phoenix City Council decided how to spend the remaining $43.4 million in federal coronavirus relief funding Tuesday, preempting a Dec. 30 deadline at which any unused funds would have had have been sent back to the U.S. Treasury Department.

“It’s in our best interest, it’s in the community’s best interest to fully expend all of these funds, to use every single dollar and not send any back,” said Deputy City Manager Jeff Barton.
