Speed limit changes rare along Arizona freeways

The speed limit along the four-lane State Route 24 in the Southeast Valley increased last year by 10 mph.

The 55-mph increase followed an evaluation by the Arizona Department of Transportation, which received a request to study the speed permitted between Ellsworth Road and Ironwood Drive.

Those requests don’t come along often, state transportation officials said.
