J. Graber's article on the rancor among the ranks of the Scottsdale City Council and a request by three council members that the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office investigate the mayor over a parking garage project got readers talking on Facebook and NextDoor. Here’s what some commenters had to say:
From Facebook
“It's going to start creating another national embarrassment. The country already thinks we’re running out of water, which is 100% not true due to inadequate or totally inaccurate press coverage.” — Brion Crum
“Please … this infighting must stop! No one has a mandate to pursue their personal goals and interests. The citizens want competent public safety, well-maintained open space and parks, adequate and affordable water, safe and well-maintained streets, economical and sustainable solid water and recycling services, a state of the art wastewater system, world class public facilities, outstanding recreational and social services for all … these are the basic municipal services that make Scottsdale great. Stick to the basics and work together!” — Jan Dolan
“A clown show. Bad Barry and his minions.” — Robb Vaules
“Residents voted for a circus, and we only have them to blame for the embarrassment.” — Jay Curcsik
From NextDoor
“Isn’t filing false criminal charges a crime, especially for attorneys?” — Javier I.
“What if it's not false?” — Nicole McLusky
“Nicole, The county attorney report stated case closed.” — Susan Wood
“Susan, that doesn’t mean it was false, it means she used her discretion to not bring charges. Prosecutors do that all the time, SCOTUS says it is their right. So please so not assume a closed cased means there was no case.” — Kim O.
“The Klown Show.” — Neil Bourque
“What’s the complaint against her?” — Carol Garling
“Carol, It was an unfounded, unsubstantiated claim made by Kwasman, Graham and Dubauskus. They said she violated contracting and corruption laws by speaking with a friend about the Old Town garage. Maricopa County Attorney interviewed them. It’s all on tape. Very disturbing, including Jan calling the mayor names, saying she is jealous of her, the three admitting that they all talked about it and the only way to get rid of her is for her to resign or be convicted of a crime. So they made one up. Maricopa Attorney, said nope. Nothing there.” — Javier I.
“Damn Trumpers trying to destroy our democracy.” — Elizabeth Freer
“Elizabeth, being power hungry and corrupt is not limited to either party.” — Javier I.
