Speak Up: Scottsdale Republican wants voters to decide on firing squads for death penalty
Posted
Calling the current system inhumane and problematic, a state lawmaker wants to give voters the chance to replace the current method of killing convicted murderers with a firing squad.
“Firing squads do away with the extreme pain and torture of putting chemicals in a body to kill it. Using chemicals is actually unAmerican. The cost is also prohibitive with the thousands of dollars that are expended on these chemicals. A firing squad would or could consist five people firing one bullet each at the cost of about $3. It is also death immediately. No long drawn out painful ordeals using chemicals, unless you’re against capital punishment, I think that defining squad is the best method to provide ultimate justice for murderers, etc., who have earned a guilty verdict.” — Sandia Charlie via story comment
