Speak Up: Glendale has not heard from feds about ICE warehouse report

Posted

Is a U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement detention facility coming to Glendale? As of Dec. 30, city officials told our Steve Stockmar, they hadn’t heard from the federal government despite a Washington Post report that the city could be home to one of 23 renovated warehouses ICE plans to utilize across the country as either processing centers or detention centers, as well as one of seven larger facilities holding between 5,000 and 10,000 people. Here’s what readers had to say about it:

  • “ICE is nothing more than Trump’s personal Gestapo! Most are poorly trained. And why do they feel a need to wear masks? Because they are also cowards!” — James Antol via email
  • “I support President Trump and ICE! Happy New Year!” — Patricia Longoria via NextDoor
  • “Don’t care. Deport ’em.” — Daniel L. via NextDoor
  • “Lock them up at the Cardinal Stadium. The football team s---s.” — Frank Zmuda via NewsBreak
  • “No ICE in Glendale!” — AzRedsea via NewsBreak
