Southwest Valley district readies for performing arts school

The Agua Fria Union High School District has announced the approval of a new project that will enhance arts education and cultural opportunities in the West Valley.

The Arts Academy and Performing Arts Center, scheduled to open in August 2026, will be on the historic La Loma hilltop in Litchfield Park. The site was originally designated by the Litchfield family in the 1920s for cultural and performing arts purposes.

The project, first presented during a school board meeting in November 2023, has moved forward following official approval. It is part of the district’s $50 million allocation from the 2023 bond, which is funding improvements across district facilities.
