Southwest Phoenix apartment complex to go ‘carbon zero’

Purchased for $41.6 million

A Massachusetts-based real estate firm is targeting the southwest Valley and making the area more sustainable in the process.

Taurus Investment Holdings recently announced it had acquired Westover Parc, a 160-unit complex at 6515 W. McDowell Road in Phoenix, to the tune of $41.6 million. It’s the fifth Phoenix- area property the company has bought in the past 15 months as the Valley continues to boom in both business and population.

Westover Parc, which was built in 2002, is set to receive a “carbon zero” makeover as Taurus and its energy-focused subsidiary RENU Communities, established just in 2019, takes over. The complex will see its HVAC units replaced with air-source heat pumps, electric water heaters will be replaced with heat pump water heaters, each unit will be equipped with an energy monitoring system, and the structure will soon gain roof-top solar panels.
