An argument early Saturday morning led to an exchange of gunfire, leaving two men dead and one in a hospital with life-threatening injuries, Phoenix police said.

The shooting occurred about 2:45 a.m. April 13 near 19th Avenue and Roeser Road where police found three men with gunshot wounds.

Elijah Sanchez, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene, and 38-year-old Lucio Lopez Segura was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. Another victim remains in critical condition, police said.

Authorities said a fourth man was not injured although they determined he was involved. He was interviewed and released pending further investigation, according to a release from the Phoenix Police Department.

Preliminary information indicates the four men were involved in an altercation that led to an exchange of gunfire.

“This investigation remains very much active,” the release stated.
