South Phoenix New Year's morning stabbing leaves man dead

Phoenix Police detectives are investigating an early New Year’s morning stabbing that left one man dead in south Phoenix according to a press release.
Officers responded to the area of 12th Place and Southern Avenue about 1:58 a.m. regarding someone being stabbed. According to the report, when officers arrived on the scene, they located an adult male, later identified as 34-year-old Gilbert Ray Ayonayon II, suffering from at least one stab wound. The Phoenix Fire Department arrived on the scene and transported Gilbert to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Officers identified several witnesses at the scene who identified 19-year-old Frank Joseph Martinez as the man involved in the incident. A short time later, Martinez returned to the scene and was taken into custody.

Phoenix Police detectives are investigating an early New Year’s morning stabbing that left one man dead in south Phoenix according to a press release.
Officers responded to the area of 12th Place and Southern Avenue about 1:58 a.m. regarding someone being stabbed. According to the report, when officers arrived on the scene, they located an adult male, later identified as 34-year-old Gilbert Ray Ayonayon II, suffering from at least one stab wound. The Phoenix Fire Department arrived on the scene and transported Gilbert to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Homicide and Night detectives responded to assume the investigation and began processing the scene. Martinez was transported to police headquarters and subsequently booked on murder charges, according to the release.
