Sophia Nardizzi

Sophia Nardizzi, was born Sophia Dorothy Valerio in Greensburg, PA on June 2, 1927. She passed away peacefully in Sun City West, AZ, on February 16, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.Having lived in California for 26 years, she and her husband of 71 years, Richard, moved to Sun City West in 1981 and had been residents for 36 years. Sophia is survived by her loving husband, Richard; son, Richard (Barbara); daughter, Rosemary Nardizzi-Bane (Michael); four grandchildren: Bettina Nardizzi, Rob Nardizzi (Cindy), Ryan Bane (Mary) and Jason Bane (Brenda); and two great-grandchildren, Seleana Nardizzi and James Bane.Sophia worked for many years in school cafeterias, and after retiring, volunteered at the Banner-Del Webb Hospital cafeteria. She was a member of the Sun City West Pennsylvania Club and the Women's Group. She dearly loved playing canasta with her favorite ladies. She loved to cook and bake and was excellent at both. Her earlier leisure time activities included loving to travel. Mass is scheduled for Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Sun City West, followed by a celebration of life.In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society in her name.
