I am a staunch supporter of our First Amendment rights of freedom of speech and a free and independent press. However, those freedoms demand responsibility to be truthful and factual. Opinions are not necessarily fact based, but some writers take misinformation and disinformation to the extreme. If one were to believe the opinions expressed by some writers, one would think that the sky is truly falling. Opinions that simply spew generalities, name-calling and fantasy unsupported by actual facts are totally worthless. I prefer to cite facts.
Here's a few verifiable facts. Last quarter the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) growth rate was 4.9%, the envy of the rest of the world. Unemployment has remained steady at 3.8%, which is the lowest unemployment since the 1960s, and the economy continued creating new jobs with a whopping 336,000 growth last month, which was almost twice what was expected, with well over 13 million created in the past two years. The Trump presidency lost over 20 million jobs.
Manufacturing is again making a comeback in America, and we are finally investing in infrastructure with many construction projects creating jobs across the country. The wealth of Americans jumped 37% from 2020 to 2022. Plus, we have the lowest uninsured rate ever.
Inflation remains higher than we would like, but is less than half of what it was last year and continues to fall. Domestic crude oil production in America has increased 5.7%, and gas prices are lower than they were a year ago, despite Russia and Saudi Arabia trying to raise gas prices. Murder and violent crimes rates came down in 2022 and continue to fall in 2023.
America and Americans are actually doing quite well and are much better off under the Biden Administration than they were under Trump.
