Some Sun City residents question election

Point to potential improprieties

Following the trend in Arizona and around the country, some Sun City residents questioned the integrity of the Recreation Centers of Sun City Board of Directors election.

There are seven candidates seeking three spots on the board. Electronic and absentee voting began in November and in person voting is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 13 at Lakeview Center, 10626 W. Thunderbird Blvd.

Residents claim RCSC Elections Committee members gathered signatures from residents to have absentee ballots mailed to them on RCSC property. Dale Lehrer, current board president and Elections Committee chairwoman, was singled out for such activity. What rankled some residents was that Lehrer allegedly attached a list of four of the seven candidates to the signature form while getting the approval, according to resident Carol Arend.
