Some residents call for termination of Peoria Unified sick-out organizers

Strike resulted in closure of 13 schools for 1 day

A group of Peoria Unified School District residents are writing formal complaints in response to a recent sick-out that caused the closure of 13 schools for one day.

The residents are requesting corrective action in the form of the termination of teachers who organized the strike.

The teachers who participated in the sick-out argue schools are not safe during the pandemic because the governing board is not following Maricopa County Health Department benchmarks, which previously were used as the determinate for either in-person or virtual learning.
